Blotter: Two charged with attempted theft

Two men were charged with attempted theft on Wednesday morning, Denton police said.

The incident, police said, occurred in the 3500 block of Hudsonwood Drive at 3:24 a.m., after a woman called and reported that two men were trying to remove a tire and wheel from a car.

When officers arrived, one man ran but was later found by police. Both suspects were brought to jail and charged with attempted theft under $500, police said.

1100 block of Cotton Exchange Drive — Denton County sheriff’s deputies responded to a criminal mischief call Wednesday afternoon.

Records show that at 2:54 p.m. a man called the sheriff’s office and alleged someone keyed his car while he was at work.

Damage was reported to be less than $500, records show.

1200 block of South Loop 288 — Two retail employees reported indecent exposure to Denton police Wednesday night.

Reports show the incident happened in the store parking lot.

The suspect, police said, left before they arrived.

The store is helping police obtain video surveillance footage of the parking lot.

From 7 a.m. Wednesday to 7 a.m. Thursday:

Denton County sheriff’s dispatchers handled 2,895 service and officer-initiated calls for the agencies they serve. A total of 142 people were booked into Denton County Jail.

Bartonville responded to seven traffic calls.

Corinth police responded to one burglary, one verbal disturbance, one harassment report, one noise complaint, five suspicious vehicle calls, 35 traffic calls, one traffic complaint, one traffic transport incident and eight animal complaints.

Double Oak police responded to one criminal mischief report and two traffic calls.

Flower Mound responded to one grass fire and two public nuisance calls.

Hickory Creek police assisted three agencies and responded to one criminal trespass, one theft report, 22 traffic calls and one traffic transport incident.

Justin firefighters responded to one grass fire, one medical call and one water main break. Justin police responded to one domestic disturbance call and one traffic call.

Krum firefighters responded to two medical calls. Krum police responded to 12 traffic calls, one medical call and assisted three agencies and one motorist.

Krugerville police responded to one traffic call, one traffic transport incident and assisted one motorist.

Lake Cities firefighters responded to one grass fire, two traffic transport incidents and six medical calls.

Lewisville made 22 arrests.

Little Elm firefighters responded to one medical call, one carbon monoxide call and assisted one citizen. Little Elm police responded to one criminal mischief report, one harassment report, one reckless driver, two traffic complaints, one terroristic threat report, eight ordinance violations, two suspicious activity calls, five traffic transport incidents, three animal complaints and assisted one agency and one motorist.

Northlake police assisted one agency, one motorist and responded to 27 traffic calls and one traffic transport incident.

Oak Point police responded to four ordinance violations, set up one roadblock and made two suspicious activity calls and eight traffic calls.

Ponder firefighters responded to one grass fire and one medical call. Ponder police responded to one medical call, five traffic calls and assisted one motorist.

Pilot Point firefighters responded to one medical call. Pilot Point police responded to one suspicious activity call and one traffic call.

Sanger firefighters responded to one medical call. Sanger police assisted one motorist, one agency and responded to one criminal trespass call, one missing person, two suspicious person calls, one welfare concern, one theft and two traffic calls.

The Colony responded to one medical call and assisted two agencies.

Trophy Club firefighters responded to two medical calls. Trophy Club police responded to one criminal trespass report, one forgery call, one suspicious vehicle, three traffic calls, one animal complaint, one traffic transport incident and assisted one motorist.
