Police officers forcibly entered an apartment Saturday afternoon after a caller reported that a friend had allegedly threatened another friend with a knife, according to a police report.
The incident occurred in the 2200 block of Stella Street and by the time officers arrived, the two subjects were locked in the bathroom, according to the report.
The officers forced their way into the bathroom and asked the man to put down the knife. According to the police report, the man did not comply with the officers’ verbal commands, so they used a Taser and the suspect fell to the ground and dropped the knife.
However, police called for medical help after they observed blood pooling around the suspect. The officers learned that the suspect had been making suicidal statements earlier to his girlfriend and then allegedly stabbed himself.
The man was transferred to Denton Regional Medical Center for treatment for non-life-threatening injuries, according to the report.
The Investigative Services Bureau responded to the scene to take over the investigation and placed several items into evidence.
