Corinth police arrested a man Friday in connection with several recent bank robberies, including one in Corinth.
Steve Nguyen, 44, was arrested after officers responded to a minor accident in front of a bank located in the 4300 block of FM2181 Friday afternoon. Nguyen’s vehicle and his appearance matched descriptions given by witnesses following bank robberies in Arlington, Mansfield and Corinth, Lt. Jimmie Gregg said.
Several notes and a hat similar to one reportedly worn by a suspect during one of the robberies were allegedly found inside Nguyen’s van during the accident stop, police said.
Gregg said Nguyen is allegedly the man who robbed the Northstar Bank in Corinth on Sept. 13. In that robbery, a suspect was in and out of the bank within 25 seconds and passed a note to the teller demanding cash. A weapon was not displayed, Gregg said, but bank employees reported that the man left in a new white Honda Odyssey van.
Nguyen had not been charged at press time.
The investigation is ongoing with the assistance of the Dallas Federal Bureau of Investigation office, Gregg said.
