A man was transported to a local hospital after he was allegedly beaten in his home by two armed, masked men in the 400 block of Amarillo Street early Saturday morning, according to a police report.
At the hospital, the man told police officers that the two men broke through his front door that morning, came in his house and beat him repeatedly with a shotgun and a metal pipe as they robbed him of his valuables, according to the police report.
No arrests had been made at the time the report was filed. The case is still pending, according to the police report.
200 block of West Hickory Street — An intoxicated man was arrested Saturday night after an officer allegedly witnessed him breaking sprinkler heads on the lawn of the Denton County Courthouse on the Square, according to a police report.
The suspect was charged with criminal mischief and public intoxication, according to the report.
1110 block of East University Drive — A man attempted to run from police Saturday after a police officer stopped him and found that he was allegedly in possession of methamphetamine, according to a police report.
The officer made the pedestrian stop at a local motel and asked the man if he would turn his pockets inside out, according to the report. When the suspect emptied his pockets, the officer saw that the man allegedly had a clear plastic baggie containing the methamphetamine, according to the report.
As the officer attempted to make an arrest, the suspect tried to run.
However, the officer managed to quickly grab the suspect’s arm with the assistance of another officer, and they placed him under arrest.
The officers also found that the suspect had a large amount of jewelry in his possession.
The case was closed by arrest.
