Two men were arrested late Sunday and a man was hospitalized after a knife fight at Quakertown Park, according to Denton police.
A 30-year-old man was found with two lacerations — one on his lower left side and another at the base of his neck — near the storm drain on the west side of the park, according to the report.
The victim, whose identity was not released, was taken to Denton Regional Medical Center. His injuries were not believed to be life threatening.
James W. Maraman, 56, and James G. Powell, 49, were arrested on charges of aggravated assault, according to police.
Several witnesses at the scene reported the fight stemmed from an altercation involving the victim and his ex-girlfriend, police said. The victim was in the park with some friends when two suspects confronted him, reportedly to warn him to stay away from his ex-girlfriend, according to the report.
An argument ensued, which eventually escalated to a fight. Witnesses reported the suspects assaulted the victim with a knife, according to the report.
Police said it was unclear during the initial investigation if both suspects were armed with knives. Denton police located to knives at the scene, according to the report. Police were called at 8:13 p.m.
