Several Thanksgiving events are scheduled this week in Denton and Denton County.
*Today, a special Community Thanksgiving Service and meal will be held in Aubrey, with proceeds benefiting the H.O.P.E. Food Bank. The event, which is hosted by the congregations of the First Christian Church and the First United Methodist Church, will begin with a service at 5:30 p.m. at the Methodist church, 113 W. Plum St., in Aubrey. A meal and fellowship will be held in Collins Hall immediately following the worship service.
*On Thanksgiving Day, the 27th annual Thanksgiving Community Banquet will be held at Calhoun Middle School, 709 W. Congress St., in Denton. The banquet is hosted by the Village Church of Flower Mound, where church members will prepare and share a meal with the community. The meal is free and delivery is available for the disabled, the elderly or those who are confined to the home. No registration is required. For delivery, call 940-382-8888.
*Also on Thanksgiving Day, the Salvation Army and the Rapha Life Center will join together to serve a Thanksgiving meal from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 3730 E. McKinney St. A community dinner of ham and potato salad will be served beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the Salvation Army, 1508 E. McKinney St.
