A chance of inclement weather forced a time change for Friday’s Class 3A Division II Region I final at Dallas’ Kincaide Stadium.
Kickoff for the playoff game between Argyle and Gladewater has been moved up to 6 p.m., according to Argyle head coach Todd Rodgers. The game was previously scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m.
Many other area games have been rescheduled or moved up because of the anticipated weather for the weekend.
As of Wednesday evening, the National Weather Service forecasted a 20 percent chance of freezing rain and sleet before 7 p.m. The high temperature for the day is expected to be 37 degrees early before dropping to a low of 24 degrees. A chance of freezing rain and sleet also projected through the weekend up to Monday.
In the Class 4A Division I Region I final, Guyer faces Birdville on Saturday at 2 p.m. at Justin Northwest. In the Class 5A Division II Region I final, Ryan plays Cedar Hill on Saturday at 2 p.m. at Apogee Stadium.
According to Denton ISD athletic director Ken Purcell, Ryan and Guyer will play on Monday at 2 p.m. at the same locations if the teams can’t play their respective games on Saturday. That determination will be based on Saturday’s road condition and the ability of team buses to safely travel.
“If the roads are clear and the teams can safely make it to Apogee Stadium and [Justin] Northwest, then we’ll play,” Purcell said.
