Blotter: Man arrested after trying to elude officer

A 36-year-old man tried to flee from Denton police while he was traveling 17 miles over the speed limit Wednesday.

Police said an officer tried to initiate a traffic stop along the 3600 block of Interstate 35E south bound near Fort Worth Drive after noticing a man driving 72 mph in 55 mph zone.

The 36-year-old man continued driving and finally stopped four miles down the road at a parking lot for a car dealership.

He was arrested for fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer and cited for speeding, according to reports.

Denton County sheriff’s dispatchers handled 1,395 service and officer-initiated calls for the agencies they serve. Fifty-one people were booked into Denton County Jail.

Argyle firefighters responded to one structure fire. Argyle police responded to one criminal mischief report, one road block, two suspicious activity calls, 27 traffic calls, one animal complaint and assisted one motorist.

Aubrey firefighters responded to one grass fire, four fire reports, one traffic transport incident, one carbon monoxide and hazardous materials call and 11 medical calls. Aubrey police assisted two agencies and responded to one disturbance call, four fireworks complaints, one reckless driver, three suspicious activity calls, one medical call, 16 traffic calls and five traffic complaints.

Bartonville police responded to six traffic calls.

Corinth police assisted eight agencies, nine motorists and responded to one smoke investigation, five fireworks complaints, one report of gunshots, one harassment report, two noise complaints, four reckless drivers, six suspicious activity calls, 71 traffic calls, one medical call, one welfare concern, six traffic transport incidents and 10 animal complaints.

Double Oak firefighters responded to one fire alarm. Double Oak police responded to one fireworks complaint, one suspicious activity call, five traffic calls and one animal complaint.

Flower Mound assisted one agency and responded to one grass fire and one structure fire.

Hickory Creek police assisted one motorist, one agency and responded to one noise complaint, one illegal burn, one ordinance violation, three reckless drivers, two suspicious activity calls, one theft report, 28 traffic calls and two traffic transport incidents.

Highland Village firefighters responded to one structure fire.

Justin firefighters responded to three medical calls. Justin police assisted one agency and responded to one fireworks complaint, one narcotics call, one prowler call, one suspicious activity call and one welfare call.

Krum firefighters responded to two structure fires, one grass fire, three medical calls and assisted one citizen. Krum police assisted two agencies and responded to one medical call, three disturbance calls, two structure fires, one illegal dumping, one suspicious activity call, one noise complaint, seven traffic calls, one welfare concern and one traffic transport incident.

Lake Cities firefighters responded to five medical calls, one illegal burn, one smoke investigation, one vehicle fire, two structure fires and five traffic transport incidents.

Little Elm firefighters responded to nine medical calls, two illegal burns, three fires and two traffic transport incidents. Little Elm police responded to two auto thefts, two Child Protective Services referrals, one criminal mischief report, two criminal trespass in progress calls, five disturbance calls, one structure call, two forgery/fraud reports, one harassment report, one gunshots heard call, one missing person, three thefts in progress, two theft reports, 19 traffic calls, three welfare concerns, three traffic transport incidents, three reckless drivers and three noise complaints.

Lewisville firefighters responded to one fire. Lewisville police responded to one civil service call.

Northeast police assisted one agency and responded to one medical call, one fireworks complaint, two suspicious activity calls, 36 traffic calls and one animal complaint.

Northlake police responded to one domestic disturbance, one theft, 16 traffic calls and one welfare concern.

Oak Point firefighters responded to one grass fire, one structure fire, two unknown fires and two medical calls. Oak Point police assisted one agency, one motorist and responded to one assault, one auto theft, one Child Protective Services call, one grass fire, two unknown fires, four fireworks complaints, one suspicious activity call, five traffic calls and one animal complaint.

Ponder firefighters responded to one burn call, one medical call and one structure fire. Ponder police responded to one Child Protective Services referral, two traffic calls and one traffic complaint.

Pilot Point firefighters responded to four medical calls, one water main break, one odor investigation and two structure fires. Pilot Point police assisted three agencies and responded to one structure fire, one disturbance call, one fireworks complaint, two reckless drivers, one theft, six traffic calls, two welfare concerns, three suspicious activity calls and one animal complaint.

Roanoke firefighters responded to one grass fire.

Sanger firefighters responded to one assault or sexual assault, six medical calls, one grass fire, one illegal burn, two unknown fires, three structure fires and two traffic transport incidents. Sanger police assisted one agency, one motorist and responded to one burglary in progress, four disturbance calls, one missing person, one noise complaint, one narcotics call, one reckless driver, three suspicious activity calls, six traffic calls, one welfare concern and three traffic transport incidents.

Slidell firefighters responded to one structure fire.

The Colony firefighters responded to one structure fire.

Trophy Club firefighters responded to three medical calls. Trophy Club police assisted one agency and responded to one burglary report, two fireworks complaints, one illegal dumping, one noise complaint, one ordinance violation, two medical calls, five suspicious activity calls, 14 traffic calls and three animal complaints.
