A Denton County sheriff’s deputy was airlifted to a Fort Worth hospital after being struck by a pickup while directing traffic Saturday evening for a rodeo near Krum.
The female deputy, whose identity was not released, was working off duty directing traffic off FM2450 at about 6 p.m. Saturday when a green pickup traveling southbound on FM2450 struck the deputy, according to Lonny Haschel, spokesman for the Texas Highway Patrol.
The deputy was taken by air ambulance to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth.
The driver of the pickup was taken into custody, and an investigation is underway, officials said.
The deputy remained in intensive care as of late Saturday evening.
