Early voting begins today

It’s time to dig out the voter registration card, gather up the photo ID and head to the polls.

Early voting starts today and continues through Feb. 28 for the March 4 primary elections, with more than 30 candidates on the ballot and 11 contested Republican primary races for some of the top elected seats in Denton County.

Texas law now requires voters to present photo identification to cast a ballot. Acceptable identification cards include a Texas driver’s license, an election identification certificate, personal identification card, concealed handgun license, U.S. military identification card containing the person’s photograph, U.S. citizenship certificate containing the person’s photograph or a U.S. passport.

Polling locations this week are open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Friday, and most polling locations will include Saturday and Sunday hours. Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. starting Monday until early voting ends Feb. 28.

Voters can cast ballots at any of 18 polling locations during the early voting period.

Early voting in Denton County begins today and continues through Feb. 28. Here are the times and locations. During early voting, anyone can cast a ballot at any location. On Election Day, voters must go to their precincts to vote.

• Dallas: Frankford Town Homes, 18110 Marsh Lane

• Double Oak: Double Oak Town Hall, 320 Waketon Road

• Flower Mound: Flower Mound Police and Municipal Court Building, 4150 Kirkpatrick Lane

• Frisco: Frisco Fire Station No. 7, 330 W. Stonebook Parkway

• Highland Village: Highland Village Municipal Complex, 1000 Highland Village Road

• Justin: Justin Municipal Complex, 415 N. College St.

• Lake Dallas: Lake Dallas City Hall, 212 Main St., Lake Dallas

• Corinth: Corinth City Hall, 3300 Corinth Parkway. Open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday and Friday; 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday; 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday; 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Feb. 25-28.

• Krum: Krum ISD Administration Building, 1200 Bobcat Blvd. Open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. today through Friday; 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday; 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday; 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday; 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Feb. 26-28.

• Sanger: First Baptist Church of Sanger, 708 S. 5th St. Open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. today Friday; 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday; 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday and Feb. 25; 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Feb. 26; 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Feb. 27-28.

• Trophy Club: Svore Municipal Building, 100 Municipal Drive. Open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. today through Friday; 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday; 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday though Feb. 28.
