Denton man’s body identified

A man found dead in a vacant field several weeks ago by a couple walking their dog has been identified as Edward Dye of Denton, officials said.

The cause of death for Dye, 53, has not yet been determined and is awaiting toxicology results, Troy Taylor, chief death investigator for the county, said Tuesday.

Dye’s body was found in a field northeast of Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Denton in the 900 block of North Bonnie Brae Street at Scripture Street on the morning of Feb. 23.

Officer Shane Kizer, spokesman for Denton police, said no signs of foul play were apparent. The body had been decomposing in the field for at least two days before it was discovered, officials said.

Dye is survived by his mother, Carol J. Magaldi, of South Bend, Ind., and three sisters, according to an obituary notice that ran in the South Bend Tribune. Funeral services are pending.
