With a little help from a K-9 officer, Lewisville police arrested a man on a drug possession charge recently.
Capt. Jay Powell said that an officer who stopped a car in the 900 block of Granview Drive for a defective-equipment violation smelled a faint odor of marijuana inside the vehicle.
Powell said a police dog then alerted on something in the vehicle.
A search of the vehicle was conducted and officers found a bag containing drugs in the car’s trunk, he said.
The bag, Powell said, belonged to a passenger in the vehicle who remains in the Denton County Jail in lieu of $20,000 bond.
3700 block of S. Interstate 35E — A 28-year-old man was arrested on a possession of a controlled substance charge after he was found to be in possession of more than 4 grams of methamphetamine, Denton police said.
Police said the suspect was transported to the city jail and his vehicle was impounded.
900 block of East Windsor Drive — A 57-year-old woman told police Thursday that someone entered her house and stole jewelry sometime on Wednesday.
Police said that the doors to the woman’s house were not locked.
The value of the stolen items was not listed.
