Blotter: Police investigating burglary of local church

Denton police are investigating a recent burglary of a church located in the 4600 block of East McKinney Street.

According to reports, someone entered the building between Monday and Wednesday and stole various musical instruments. Police said the person who made the report believes it was someone who had a key to the building since there was no forced entry on any of the exterior doors.

The value of the stolen instruments was not listed.

1500 block of South Loop 288 — Two 17-year-olds were arrested on shoplifting charges at a big box store Wednesday evening.

According to Denton police reports, an asset protection officer reported they had two suspects detained at the store for placing merchandise in a backpack without paying.

The two were charged with theft of property greater than $50 and less than $500.

1600 block of Jasmine Trial — A 30-year-old Frisco man reportedly harassed a Denton County woman Wednesday afternoon. Denton County Sheriff’s Office reports show the aggressor was the woman’s neighbor.

From 7 a.m. Wednesday to 7 a.m. Thursday:

Denton County sheriff’s dispatchers handled 799 service and officer-initiated calls for the agencies they serve, and 40 people were booked into Denton County Jail.

Denton firefighters responded to 12 medical calls, one water problem, one Dumpster or outside trash receptacle fire, one building fire and one trash or rubbish fire.

Argyle firefighters assisted one citizen and responded to three medical calls. Argyle police assisted one motorist and responded to 13 traffic calls and one prowler report.

Aubrey firefighters responded to two medical calls. Aubrey police assisted one agency and responded to one loose livestock call, one suspicious activity call, one theft call, seven traffic calls and one medical call.

Bartonville police responded to three traffic calls.

Corinth police assisted one agency and responded to one medical call, one criminal mischief call, one harassment call, one reckless driver/boater, four suspicious activity calls, 39 traffic calls, five traffic complaints, three traffic transport incidents and four animal complaints.

Double Oak police assisted one motorist and responded to two traffic calls and one traffic complaint.

Flower Mound firefighters assisted one agency and responded to one smoke investigation.

Hickory Creek police assisted two agencies and responded to one burglary, two terroristic threats, 23 traffic calls and one suspicious activity call.

Justin firefighters responded to one medical call. Justin police assisted one agency and responded to three traffic calls, one animal complaint and one medical call.

Krum firefighters responded to two medical calls. Krum police assisted one agency and responded to one harassment call, one suspicious activity call and three traffic calls.

Lake Cities firefighters responded to six medical calls and one traffic transport incident.

Lewisville police made 16 arrests.

Little Elm firefighters responded to five medical calls, one smoke investigation and one odor investigation. Little Elm police assisted two agencies and responded to one Child Protective Services referral, one criminal mischief report, one criminal trespass report, three disturbance calls, three noise complaints, six ordinance violations, one reckless driver, two suspicious activity calls, one theft report, 26 traffic calls, one welfare concern, two traffic transport incidents and two animal complaints.

Northeast police assisted one agency and one motorist and responded to one loose livestock call, one suspicious activity call, 20 traffic calls, one traffic complaint and one animal complaint.

Northlake police assisted one agency and responded to 18 traffic calls and one traffic transport incident.

Oak Point firefighters responded to two medical calls. Oak Point police assisted one citizen and responded to one traffic complaint.

Ponder firefighters responded to three medical calls.

Sanger firefighters responded to one grass fire, one medical call and one traffic transport incident. Sanger police assisted one agency and responded to one disturbance call, one report of a gunshot report, two reckless drivers, three suspicious activity calls, six traffic calls, one traffic complaint, one welfare concern and two animal complaints.

Trophy Club firefighters responded to one smoke investigation. Trophy Club police assisted one motorist and responded to one smoke investigation, two ordinance violations, seven traffic calls, one welfare concern and four animal complaints.
