A man made off with beer from a Denton store on Friday just before midnight but left his backpack behind, according to a police report.
An employee of the store, located in the 1600 block of West University Drive, told police that he saw the man trying to steal the beer and tried to stop him. However, the suspect pushed past the employee, causing injury to the employee’s hip, the report stated.
As the suspect was fleeing the location, the caller grabbed the suspect’s backpack off of his back. Officers arrived on scene and searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect.
The backpack was collected and later placed into evidence, and an offense report was completed.
300 block of Interstate 35E — Officers were dispatched to a reported assault at a restaurant Saturday, according to a police report.
A caller informed dispatch that she had been assaulted by her ex-boyfriend, who hit her in the face, the report stated.
When officers arrived on scene, interviews of the suspect and victim were conducted. A written report, which also includes evidence, was documented and submitted for further investigation.
200 block of West Oak Street — Denton police were called to an assault that had just occurred.
After arriving at the location, the responding officer was informed that the victim had been struck with a cane by the suspect. The suspect was located on scene and taken into custody on an assault charge.
