Denton County Judge Mary Horn, left, leads County Commissioner Andy Eads and Krum residents across the Plainview bridge after it was placed and dedicated Monday in Krum. The Plainview Bridge used to be located on Plainview Road in an unincorporated part of the Denton County just west of Krum. It failed a Texas Department of Transportation road and bridge inspection in 2007 and was replaced with a new safer bridge using federal, state and county funds. County officials partnered with the city of Krum to relocate the old bridge to the park. The city repainted the bridge and put a new deck on the surface and repaired the bridge so it would be open for pedestrian traffic. Eads said the bridge will serve as a link from the neighborhood across the bridge to a walking trail to the schools in Krum.
