Police are seeking the public’s help to gather information about an overturned truck along the interstate early Tuesday morning.

An 18-wheeler traveling northbound on Interstate 35 over the U.S. Highway 380 bridge rolled over after 5 a.m. Tuesday while trying to go avoid another 18-wheeler that was crossing both lanes of the roadway at a perpendicular angle about a quarter of a mile north of the U.S. 380 overpass, Denton police said.

Witnesses said the driver of the overturned truck swerved to the right shoulder of the road and when doing so, the truck’s tires went into the ditch, causing the vehicle to overturn.

Officials on the scene said Mike Jensen of Fort Worth, 68, was transported to Denton Regional Medical Center with serious injuries.

The 18-wheeler that was blocking the road did not remain at the scene. Witnesses described the truck as having a red tractor cab and a white box trailer, according to a news release issued by the Denton Police Department.

Police are asking anyone who was on I-35 on Tuesday who might be able to describe the truck in more detail or who know why the truck was blocking traffic, to call the Denton Police Department Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Officer at 940-349-7851.
