Blotter: Man arrested on drug possession charge

A homeless man suspected of possessing a controlled substance was arrested Sunday by Denton police.

Officers responded to a call from a homeowner in the 1000 block of North Bonnie Brae Street who said there was a suspicious person in the backyard of the residence. The homeowner said he did not know the man or why he was on his property.

The man told police he was homeless and was looking for a place to lie down. During a search, officers found a green plastic baggie containing a crystal-like substance in the man’s right front pocket.

The substance tested positive for methamphetamine, according to police. The man was arrested and transported to the city jail on the possession charge.

900 block of Greenlee Street — Officers were dispatched to an assault report at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Denton.

The caller reported that a patient issued a complaint, stating he was hit in the face by a friend. Officers arrived on scene and gathered details and evidence for further review. Evidence was submitted for further investigation, the report said.

5300 block of East McKinney Street — Officers responded to a theft and criminal mischief report.

When officers contacted the victim, he said the suspect had destroyed the inside of the mobile home and stolen numerous pieces of furniture.

Aubrey firefighters responded to 14 medical calls, a grass fire, two traffic transport incidents and two vehicle unlocks. Aubrey police assisted an agency and responded to three reports of suspicious vehicles.

Bartonville police assisted an agency and responded to a disturbance, a domestic disturbance, 11 traffic calls and a traffic complaint.

Corinth police assisted five agencies and responded to three domestic disturbances and a report of gunshots.

Double Oak firefighters assisted a resident and responded to a grass fire and an illegal burn. Double Oak police responded to two reports of gunshots and 24 traffic calls.

Hickory Creek police assisted five agencies and responded to an intoxicated person and a juvenile complaint.

Justin firefighters responded to a grass fire, a fire smoke investigation, a medical call and a traffic transport incident. Justin police assisted three agencies and responded to a fire smoke investigation, a report of suspicious activity and 16 traffic calls.

Krum firefighters responded to three medical calls, two grass fires and a vehicle unlock. Krum police assisted three agencies and responded to a 911 hang-up and three noise complaints.

Lake Cities firefighters responded to 11 medical calls, a carbon monoxide alarm, a fire alarm, three carbon monoxide calls, a report of downed power lines, an electrical fire, two grass fires, an illegal burn, two unknown fires, an odor investigation and three traffic transport incidents.

Little Elm firefighters assisted a boater and responded to 12 medical calls, two alarm fires, a grass fire, two illegal burns, an unknown fire, a traffic transport incident, two vehicle unlocks and a water main break. Little Elm police assisted an agency and responded to two ordinance violations and a prisoner transfer.

Northeast police assisted two agencies and responded to an assault and two thefts.

Northlake police assisted one agency and responded to two reckless drivers and two reports of loose livestock.

Oak Point firefighters responded to two medical calls and a grass fire. Oak Point police assisted an agency and responded to a grass fire and two road blockage hazards.

Pilot Point firefighters responded to seven medical calls and two grass fires. Pilot Point assisted two agencies and responded to a building check and a burglary.

Ponder firefighters responded to a grass fire. Ponder police assisted an agency and responded to a building check and a road blockage hazard.

Sanger firefighters responded to 11 medical calls, three grass fires, a structure fire, a vehicle fire and two vehicle unlocks. Sanger police assisted an agency and responded to a juvenile complaint and a noise complaint.

Trophy Club firefighters responded to five medical calls. Trophy Club police assisted an agency and responded to a report of criminal mischief, a suspicious vehicle and five reports of open doors.
