A  64-year-old man seriously injured after his 18-wheeler rolled over at Interstate 35 and U.S. Highway 380 died Monday in the Intensive Care Unit at Denton Regional Medical Center.

Mike Jensen of White Settlement was pronounced dead at 12:10 p.m. after suffering numerous head and chest  injuries after his 18-wheeler overturned early March 25, Denton County officials said.

Ryan Grelle, spokesman for Denton police, said Jensen was removed from the cab of the truck and taken to the hospital by the Denton Fire Department after the accident at 5:30 a.m.

Witnesses told officers that they had seen another 18-wheeler blocking all lanes of north bound traffic before the accident occurred, police said.

Grelle said as Jensen was going around the possible jackknifed trailer, the right side tires got too far into the ditch and caused his truck to roll onto its right side.

Three wreckers were called in to pull the truck upright from the ditch about a quarter of a mile north of the U.S. 380 overpass.

The 18-wheeler that was blocking the road did not remain at the scene. Witnesses described the truck as having a red tractor cab and a white box trailer, according to a news release issued by the Denton Police Department shortly after the accident.

Police are asking anyone who might be able to describe the truck in more detail or who know why the truck was blocking traffic to call the Denton Police Department Commercial Vehicle Enforcement officer at 940-349-7851.
