Denton city leaders will unveil new “Little d” bike racks at 6 p.m. today in front of the Courthouse on the Square at the corner of Elm and Oak streets.

The group Denton Downtowners wrote a proposal for an $8,400 neighborhood empowerment grant from the city to pay for 38 racks that provide 76 spaces for bicyclists downtown. The bike rack design features an eighth note carved into the center of a lowercase “d” and was donated by artist Sean Starr.

The city parks department will install and maintain the racks. After the unveiling, the city’s Twilight Tunes concert series will kick off at 6:30 p.m. with alternative rock band Lydia Low.
