Blotter: Moped rider runs from police after warrants found

A traffic stop of a man on a moped led to a foot chase and arrest Saturday night.

Denton officers initiated a traffic stop at Eagle Drive and Carroll Boulevard after a moped rider failed to use a turn signal, according to a police report.

Once stopped in a bank parking lot, the moped operator was found to have multiple warrants out of multiple agencies.

The man resisted arrest and ran away toward South Elm Street. The suspect ran into a drainage ditch, where officers caught him. He was arrested on the warrants and on charges of resisting arrest, evading officers and driving with an invalid license.

100 block of West Hickory Street — A Denton man was arrested in an alleged assault Saturday night.

Officers were dispatched to a residence after calls about an assault there. Multiple callers reported that an intoxicated man had assaulted another man, causing a laceration to the victim’s ear.

The suspect admitted to officers that he had pushed the victim, according to a police report. He was arrested on a charge of assault causing bodily injury.
