A cold front that brought snow to the front range of Colorado is now in North Texas this afternoon and bringing more, much-needed rain.
Forecasters earlier expected about an inch to 1.25 inches of rain this afternoon for Denton County but later added the county to the flash flood watch list covering most of the Dallas-Fort Worth region this afternoon and tonight.
Denton and the surrounding area didn’t get as much rain last week as other counties to the east and south, according to Amanda Schroeder, meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Fort Worth.
“Last Thursday, those areas had multiple inches of rainfall and flash flooding,” Schroeder said.
There is a small threat for damaging winds as the storms approach, Schroeder said, and hail, if any, would be marginally severe.
