Blotter: Stolen merchandise leads to arrest

A 35-year-old man was arrested Tuesday evening after being accused of stealing items from a mall department store and then getting into a fight with security officers.

Police were dispatched to a call in the 2200 block of Interstate 35E at 8:38 p.m. The man allegedly stole items and then got into an altercation with mall security and a loss prevention officer when he stepped outside the doors of the store.

The man was charged with robbery and possession of a controlled substance, according to Officer Ryan Grelle, spokesman for Denton police.

4700 block of FM428 and Zackery Road — A 26-year-old woman who allegedly spit in the face of emergency personnel Monday night has been charged with assault, according to the Denton County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies were dispatched just before 9 p.m. Monday to Denton Regional Medical Center, where officials said the patient spit in the face of a paramedic, records show.

Lake Cities firefighters responded to five medical calls.

Little Elm firefighters assisted one citizen and responded to four medical calls.
