A hot pursuit of a red Mercedes that crossed from Denton County into Grayson County eventually led to the arrest of a woman from The Colony.

Athena Suzanne Sides, 29, was charged with evading arrest with a vehicle and burglary of a habitation and booked into the Denton County Jail on Wednesday, according to county records. She is being held under a $205,002 bond.

The chase began when Denton County sheriff’s deputies were dispatched at 6:53 p.m. Tuesday to the 10000 block of Osburn Road in northeast Denton County on a report of a burglary.

Deputies saw a red Mercedes leaving the scene as they arrived, and they began pursuing the vehicle. Multiple agencies joined the chase until the vehicle left the county, officials said.

A description of the vehicle was broadcast to counties to the north, and the Mercedes was later found in a ditch by Grayson County officials, according to Sandi Brackeen, spokeswoman for the Denton County Sheriff’s Office.

Witness reports led law enforcement officials to a fast-food restaurant in the 1100 block of U.S. Highway 82 in Gainesville, where Sides was arrested. She was transported to Denton County.

An investigation is underway, Brackeen said.
