Blotter: Police pick up pair detained by loss-prevention officer

Denton police picked up a pair of suspected shoplifters without incident despite one reportedly having a knife Saturday.

The officers were dispatched to a store in the 1500 block of South Loop 288 in reference to two suspects about to be detained by a loss-prevention officer.

The loss-prevention officer contacted Denton police prior to making the detention for safety reasons because he observed one of the suspects cutting open merchandise packaging with some type of knife.

The suspects were detained before police officers arrived.

800 block of Panhandle Street — A Denton officer was dispatched to a residence in reference to the burglary of a vehicle.

The caller stated that his lawn edger was stolen from his truck while he was cutting grass.
