Another Denton County road construction project is nearly here.
During an evening meeting late last week at the Copeland Center in Cross Roads, land owners received an update on the work to be done to FM720 south of Martop Road to U.S. Highway 380 and how recent changes affect them.
“We’re taking a two-lane road to a six-lane urban roadway,” said Michelle Releford, spokeswoman for the Texas Department of Transportation. “All of the property owners know what is happening — we had to go in and realign a water line, affecting the project.”
With the change, property owners on the east side had a little more land taken, but they have already met with TxDOT officials and are OK with the effects on their property.
“This was a formality having this meeting to restate this is the alignment, this is the schematic and this is the schedule,” Releford said.
The $21.1 million, two-mile project is still in the planning stages, but nearing the end of that phase, Releford said.
She said residents who have any questions about that project or any of the other projects going on in the county should contact the Denton County area office at 940-387-1414.
“They know everything coming down the pike,” she said.
