Denton police received a call about a possible hit-and-run accident in the 800 block of East McKinney Street on Wednesday night, but upon arrival, officers discovered the victim had actually been stabbed and not struck by a vehicle.
Two homeless men who were staying in a drainage area located on that block got into an argument that led to the stabbing, the report stated.
A description of the suspect helped officers locate him behind a nearby bakery.
The suspect was arrested on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and the victim was transported to a local hospital for his injuries, the report stated.
