Blotter: Several departments called to douse grass fire

Nearly two dozen fire department units were needed to quell an outdoor burning gone out of control Saturday.

The Denton Fire Department received a call at 3:51 p.m. reporting a grass fire in the 7900 block of FM2153, according to fire officials. The fire moved along the west side of FM2153 and the wind drove it north toward FM455.

No injuries were reported and no structures were lost in the blaze that burned 325 acres. Denton requested mutual aid from Sanger, Pilot Point, Aubrey, Little Elm and Oak Point fire departments to help put out the fire.

2800 block of Inman Street — A Denton man returned home to find some of his clothes missing late Saturday.

Denton officers were called to an apartment in the 200 block of Inman Street in reference to a burglary, according to a police report. The caller reported that his apartment had been broken into at an unknown time while he was out of town.

When officers arrived at the apartment, the man said he noticed multiple items of clothing had been taken. A burglary report was completed.

2500 block of West Prairie Street — A Denton officer was dispatched in response to an overdose possibly due to LSD.

Upon arrival, an officer made contact with a friend of the man who took the drugs. The officer was allowed to search the apartment for the drug. In the process, the officer found other controlled substances. The friend was placed under arrest on drug-related charges while the overdose victim was transported to a local hospital.
