Denton resident and journalist Keith Shelton will be a featured speaker at The Sixth Floor Museum in Dallas on Saturday.
Shelton was a political reporter for the Dallas Times Herald covering President John F. Kennedy’s trip to Texas in 1963, and while aboard a press bus in the presidential motorcade on Nov. 22, he heard shots ring out in Dealey Plaza.
He will share his recollections of that day and 23 years as a newspaper reporter/editor during The Sixth Floor Museum’s July Living History program at 2 p.m. on the museum’s seventh floor.
Tickets cost $10 for the program only, or $5 when combined with museum admission. Tickets may be purchased in advance online at www.jfk.org.
Shelton served as managing editor of the Denton Record-Chronicle from 1965 to 1969 and 1979 to 1986. From 1986 to 1988, he served as executive editor.
