Lynn Sheffield Simmons: Argyle Community Civic League sets Back-to-School Shopping Day

The Argyle Community Civic League has scheduled its Back-to-School Shopping Day at 7 a.m. Aug. 8 at Kohl’s in Flower Mound, where it will buy school clothes for Argyle children in need.

The Cross Timbers Church in Argyle has volunteered to collect shoes, backpacks and school supplies for the children. The ACCL will also be collecting donations for backpacks and shoes.

The ACCL will also have its next meeting at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at Fuzzy’s Taco Shop, 421 S. U.S. Highway 377.

ASC schedules luncheon

The Argyle Senior Center will have a pot-luck luncheon on Friday. Those attending are asked to come dressed in the style of the 1950s, as well as to bring a side dish.

The Argyle Senior Center meets every Wednesday and Friday, with exercise beginning at 10 a.m., followed by card games at 11 a.m. The Argyle Senior Center is located in the Argyle Town Hall Community Room, 308 Denton St. For more information, call Stella McDaniel at 940-464-7438, or visit www.argyleseniorcenter.com.

* The Argyle Lions Club meets every first Tuesday of the month at noon, while the board meets every third Tuesday of the month at 5:30 p.m., with membership meeting at 6:30 p.m. All are held in the Argyle Town Hall Community Room, 308 Denton St. For more information, contact Susan Curry-Langston at scurry@nstarbank.com.
