Blotter: Man accused of damaging cars with hands

Police took a Denton man into custody after his brief battle with parked cars late Sunday.

According to a police report, a Denton officer and University of North Texas officers made contact with the man in the 1000 block of West Mulberry Street in reference to an altercation he was believed to have been involved in at a restaurant in the 100 block of Avenue A.

According to dispatch, an intoxicated man and two employees from a nearby bar were involved in an altercation outside the restaurant. The intoxicated man then began striking several vehicles with his hands, causing damage and resulting in his arrest on a criminal mischief charge.

Other reports

400 block of Marietta Street — A woman reported that her gaming system was missing from her home and she believed she knew who took it.

1000 block of Reed Street — A Denton woman reported that on Thursday she sold a ring online through Craigslist and that the ring was picked up but payment was not sent.

She reported that she received no benefit and believed the suspect took the property by deception.

From 7 a.m. Friday to 7 a.m. Monday:

Denton police handled 704 service and officer-initiated calls and posted 50 reports online.

Denton Fire Department call data was not available by press time.

Denton County sheriff’s dispatchers handled 2,142 service and officer-initiated calls for the agencies they serve, and 98 people were booked into Denton County Jail.
