Denton County Sheriff William Travis will represent Texas sheriffs in the fight against marijuana.

According to a news release from the Denton County Sheriff’s Office, Travis addressed the Sheriff’s Association of Texas Legislative Committee on Monday with his proposal.

The proposed resolution is in opposition to state House bills that would decriminalize marijuana and legalize medicinal marijuana in Texas.

On Tuesday, Travis was voted by the association to speak on behalf of all Texas sheriffs on the issue before the general session during next year’s 84th Legislature, the release said.
