The Denton school board will discuss an employee compensation plan that could give a pay increase of at least 2 percent to all district employees, at 6 p.m. today at the Stephens Central Administration Building, 1307 N. Locust St.
The board is also expected to consider action at the meeting. Trustees had originally planned to discuss the plan after receiving a report from finance advisers on the effects of the new tax appraisal rolls.
According to a document provided by the district, cost estimates for the pay increases total more than $3.86 million. The bulk of the raises — approximately $2.5 million — will go to teachers, district officials have said. The compensation plan, if approved, would boost salaries for teachers with no experience from $48,000 to $48,750.
The 2014-15 fiscal budget, approved in June, includes more than $2.8 million designated for the compensation plan, district officials have said.
