The Krum school district is modifying start and dismissal times at four of its five schools.
Beginning Aug. 25, Krum Early Education Center will start at 7:50 a.m. and dismiss students at 2:50 p.m., while Dodd Elementary School will start at 8 a.m. and conclude the day at 3 p.m.
Dyer Intermediate School will begin the day at 8:10 a.m. and dismiss classes at 3:10 p.m., and Krum High School will dismiss students at 3:35 p.m.
The Krum High start time of 8:20 a.m. will remain the same as will the 8:20 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Krum Middle School schedule.
According to Christina Kruse, district spokeswoman, the changes will assist the flow of school traffic, especially for families with children at multiple district schools.
Superintendent Cody Carroll wrote a letter in May that indicated district growth in the last decade has led to challenges with “traffic and longer lines at the drop-off and pick-up areas” at district schools. The modifications to schools times is an attempt to “remedy” some of those challenges, he wrote.
