The body of a 27-year-old Denton-area man was recovered from Lewisville Lake by Lewisville Fire Department divers on Monday morning. The man’s name has yet to be released by officials.

The man had been fishing with his father since the early morning hours when he went underwater near Willow Grove Park in Lake Dallas, according to Texas Parks and Wildlife Department Game Warden Daron Blackerby.

Blackerby said that the victim’s father saw him go under and contacted a family friend who called 911 at about 10:12 a.m.

The Lake Cities Fire Department also responded to the scene.

The body was found at about 11:15 a.m. about 90 yards from the shore in 6 feet of water. Once the body was brought to the shore, emergency workers tried resuscitation efforts but were unsuccessful.
