District 1 Council member Kevin Roden has called for the public’s help after a Texas Woman’s University student was hit by a car and killed crossing Bell Avenue near campus last week.

Saying one death is too many, Roden plans to create a pedestrian safety task force that would analyze problems and recommend solutions to the city, TWU and the University of North Texas. Roden is the chair of the city’s mobility committee and his district includes the TWU campus.

The first meeting will be held at 7 tonight in Roden’s home, 322 Texas St.

On his blog, Roden also called for Denton residents to submit their pedestrian safety concerns and suggestions online.
