The northbound Interstate 35E bridge over Dallas Drive remains under construction Tuesday.

Work crews appear to be demolishing new concrete and decking for the Interstate 35E bridge at Dallas Drive. What happened and when will it reopen?

Crews found a structural issue with the bridge, according to Kimberly Sims, 35Express spokeswoman for the contractor AGL.

That means the reopening of the U.S. Highway 77 bridge, which was originally planned for 2015, has been delayed.

Repairs are underway and crews expect to complete the work by this fall and reopen the bridge to traffic, Sims said.

“We understand this may be an inconvenience to motorists; however, the safety of the traveling public is our top priority,” Sims said.
