Denton police arrested a man Friday morning in connection with an earlier hit-and-run fatality traffic accident on the Interstate 35 service road near the northern city limits.

The body of a woman was found in a ditch of the northbound I-35 service road near Ganzer Road, said Officer Ryan Grelle. Denton County Chief Death Investigator Troy Taylor said the victim, at first believed to be a young teen, has been identified as a 41-year-old woman.

The woman holds both Texas and Illinois driver's licenses, authorities said, and she is believed to have some tie to Frisco.

Edward Crawford of Manhattan, Ill., said Friday afternoon that the victim is his daughter, Doreen Michelle Crawford. He said she recently married a man from the Denton County area and they have lived in the area about six months. She was a truck driver, he said.

She grew up in the small town of Manhattan, near Chicago, and had been a waitress and a truck driver all her life.

Denton police relayed information about a car believed to have been involved in the accident to law enforcement agencies in northern Denton and Cooke counties. Gainesville and Cooke County officers stopped a car matching the description, and it had damage that matched debris left at the scene of the accident, Grelle said.

They arrested Gwisung Lee, 28, and charged him with causing an accident involving serious bodily injury or death. He was awaiting arraignment at city jail Friday. Further details, including Lee's address, were not available.
