The time for a special-called Aubrey City Council meeting Thursday (today) to discuss the contract of its former city administrator, terms of a separation agreement and severance pay has been changed to 7:15 p.m.
Council members were originally slated to meet at 6 p.m. at Aubrey City Hall, 107 S. Main St., to discuss the matter in a closed-door meeting with a city attorney.
The executive session discussion is the sole item on the meeting agenda. The council could possibly return from the discussion to consider a terms-of-separation agreement and severance pay for Matt McCombs, who served as city administrator for more than two years.
On May 19, Mayor Janet Meyers confirmed that McCombs is no longer employed with the city. The Pilot Point Post-Signal newspaper reported that May 18 was McCombs' last day at work in Aubrey.
Meyers has declined comment on the grounds for the separation agreement or how soon Aubrey anticipates looking to replace McCombs.
"I have nothing else to say until negotiations are completed," Meyers wrote the Denton Record-Chronicle in an email May 19.
Aubrey's five council members and McCombs have not responded to requests for comment on the matter as of press time.
