Two people traveling in a sport utility vehicle were taken to a Fort Worth hospital with minor injuries Saturday after a plane swiped the hood of their vehicle at the Northwest Regional Airport in Roanoke, a Department of Public Safety spokesman said.

Spokesman Lonny Haschel said the plane, a 2005 Cessna Skyhawk, was landing to the south about 10:50 a.m. and the SUV, a 2008 Volvo, was traveling east on the perimeter of the airport when the landing gear of the plane hit the top of the Volvo.

The pilot landed and slid onto a grassy area of the left side of the airport property, leaving the pilot uninjured.

The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the accident, Haschel said.
