Blotter: Police respond to report of damaged windows

Denton Police are investigating a report of damage to vehicle windows in the 2900 block of Newport Avenue on Saturday.

A 4:35 a.m. call informed officers of damage to a vehicle window, and the caller noted that the window appeared to have been shot out. Upon arrival at the location, the officer discovered a total of three vehicles on Newport Avenue with similar damage, according the Sgt. Jeryl Golden.

The officer contacted all three victims but was unable to gather any suspect information as none of the owners had heard anything.

The estimated damage to each vehicle was around $250.

Other reports

100 block of West Congress Street — Officers responding to a theft report found that a man’s covered trailer was taken from outside a building where a wedding reception was being held.

The theft happened within 30 minutes of the time the victim entered the building. The trailer contained equipment used for ministry work, speakers and CDs of gospel recordings.

A witness reported that she saw the trailer being pulled away from the parking lot, but she did not notice the vehicle that was used or who was driving.

400 block of Benjamin Street — A man and woman reported that they left their home to go to the store and forgot to lock the front door but found the front door locked with the dead bolt when they returned.

The man went around to the back door and discovered that it was open. All the drawers for a cabinet in the living room had been pulled out, and the victims’ bedroom upstairs had items scattered about. The victims reported that about $45 in cash was taken.

5300 block of East McKinney Street — A resident reported an attempted vehicle break-in that was unsuccessful.
