Blotter: Groom-to-be arrested during reception

A wedding reception turned ugly when the groom-to-be was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, police said.

Reports indicate the groom-to-be, 23, was intoxicated from his wedding reception and had grabbed two knifes trying to attack people inside a home in the 5300 block of East McKinney Street on Friday night. Several small children and adults were inside the home, according to reports.

Police said this was an aftermath of a wedding reception for a young couple that were going to be married. Victims, according to police, were the soon-to-be brother-in-law and father-in law.

Reports indicate the people inside the home were able to escape out the front door and hold the suspect inside until Denton police officers arrived.

100 block Ave A — Police responded to call that a glass door of a local deli was broken early Friday.

According to reports, a man intentionally punched the front door to the deli, breaking the glass. The suspect tried to leave the scene but was followed by several witnesses, police said.

Two arrests were made in relation to the incident, according to police reports.

2700 block Hilcroft Ave — Someone entered through the back door in the 3700 block of Dunlavy and stole a gun, according to police reports. The gun’s make and model is unlisted. According to police, the caller believed the gun might have been stolen three weeks ago. The case is still pending.

* Forty-eight people were booked into the Denton County Jail.
