Blotter: Caller reports break-in at his business

A caller reported that an unknown suspect broke a window at his business in the 500 block of East Prairie Street on Monday afternoon, then entered without permission, according to a Denton police report.

The suspect entered the building and then smoked two cigarettes and another item that looked like a “joint” or a rolled cigarette, according to the report.

The suspect then left the building through a door on the roof, police said.

5200 block of Interstate 35W — Multiple callers reported a reckless driver from Denton’s southern city limits on Interstate 35W on Monday morning, according to a police report.

The vehicle was stopped and the responding officer determined the driver was under the influence of prescription medication, according to the report.

The driver also had a concealed handgun license and had a concealed weapon in the vehicle.

The driver was arrested for driving while intoxicated and for unlawful carrying of a weapon by a license holder, and consented to a blood test, according to the report.

3500 block of East McKinney Street — When a family arrived home Monday night, they found their balcony door broken off at the hinges and their safe missing, according to a police report.

Police responded to the scene after the call was dispatched, and gathered evidence at the scene. The case is pending, according to the report.
