Blotter: Search leads to arrest

A 20-year-old man was arrested after police discovered a small baggie in his shirt pocket and found that he had outstanding warrants in Denton County.

The baggie was in the right pocket of the man’s purple and black shirt during the search Friday night in the 8000 block of Seven Oaks Lane in Denton. The baggie contained a white, powdery residue.

The man was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. Records show he also had an outstanding warrant with the Denton County Sheriff’s Office for failure to appear.

3000 block of East McKinney Street — A 24-year-old man was arrested during a traffic stop Friday after police discovered he had 12 active suspensions on his driver’s license.

According to police reports, the man also was found to have prior convictions for driving while a license was invalid and a prior suspension for an intoxication offense. Police said he was arrested for driving while a license was invalid, class B, without incident.

9000 block of Michelle Way — The main entrance gate to an active retirement community was reported damaged Friday.

Police reports show the crossing arms and the wooden gate at the Michelle Way entrance to the community was damaged after someone raised the crossing arm by hand while it was down and then used their vehicle to push the wooden gate open. Video surveillance caught the damage on film, reports show.

Texas Woman’s University police responded to 69 calls for service, four reports and one escort, reported 29 moving violations and arrested five people.

From 7 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 12 to Thursday:

University of North Texas police responded to three medical calls, one disorderly conduct call, one criminal trespass warning, two vehicle accidents, one minor crash, one theft of more than $50 and less than $500 and one criminal mischief report, and issued one citation for urinating in public, issued municipal citations for driving while intoxicated, failure to provide identification and consumption of an alcoholic beverage by a minor, one citation for possession of an alcoholic beverage by a minor and one citation for driving while a license is invalid. They made two arrests for possession of marijuana, two for public intoxication, one for driving while intoxicated and two arrests on warrants from outside agencies. They also assisted one agency.
