Blotter: Man arrested on intoxication charge

A 20-year-old man reportedly causing a disturbance inside a local shopping mall Friday was arrested on a charge of non-alcohol public intoxication, police said.

A Denton officer responded to the 2000 block of South Interstate 35E and the man was placed under arrest, according to police reports. During the book-in process at the city jail, the officer found a white rectangular pill in the man’s wallet that police said was Alprazolam, or Xanax, a controlled substance in the penalty group three category.

The man was then charged with possession of less than 28 grams of a controlled substance in penalty group three, officials said.

1800 block of North Ruddell Street — A 41-year-old woman reported to police Friday that her soon-to-be ex-husband will not stop harassing her. Reports show the woman had told the man to stop and that he was threatening to damage her property.

600 block of North Interstate 35E — Police said a 41-year-old woman tried to destroy evidence of drugs when they were called to a domestic disturbance shortly after 1:30 a.m. Friday. According to reports, a controlled substance was discovered in plain view. The woman was charged with tampering/fabricating physical evidence and possession of less than one gram of a controlled substance from penalty group one. The woman also had an outstanding warrant from the department, officials said.

Sunday, Feb. 9 to Saturday:

Texas Woman’s University police responded to seven reports, 59 calls for service, 36 moving violations and one escort and made seven arrests.

From Sunday, Feb. 9 to Thursday:

University of North Texas police responded to four medical calls, two thefts of more than $50 and less than $500, one burglary of a building, three motor vehicle accidents, one burglary of a vehicle and one suspicious activity call and made one arrest for a minor driving under the influence of alcohol and reckless driving, one arrest for driving while intoxicated, two arrests for possession of less than two ounces of marijuana and one arrest for an outstanding warrant. UNT police also issued two criminal trespass warnings, one municipal citation for seizure of a handicap placard, one municipal citation for soliciting and one citation for possession of drug paraphernalia.
