Blotter: Man arrested after woman reports assault

Denton officers were dispatched to the 3800 block of Surf Street shortly before 4 a.m. Friday after a woman reported a domestic disturbance, according to a police report.

The 30-year-old woman told officers she was bruised from a struggle with a 55-year-old male friend. She said the two fought in a car when he attempted to take her keys away. She reportedly suffered swelling to her hands and bruising while fighting for the keys.

The man was charged with assault causing bodily injury family violence and criminal mischief more than $50 less than $500.

Other reports

3300 block of Kingfisher Lane — A woman called police Friday to report her adult daughter missing, saying she hadn’t seen her since June 3, police said.

According to reports, the mother told police that when her daughter left home she said she would be “back in a bit” but has not returned. The woman told police she believes her daughter is in danger and that it’s unlike her to leave home without any belongings. A report was completed.

2200 block of South Interstate 35E — A 28-year-old was charged with theft of property Friday afternoon for allegedly shoplifting in a department store. Police said the woman allegedly stashed merchandise in her purse and put on a swimsuit underneath her clothing.

* Forty-eight people were booked into the Denton County Jail.

* Denton police posted 10 reports online.

From Sunday, June 15, to Saturday:

Texas Woman’s University police responded to 61 calls for service, made 10 reports and three arrests and responded to 14 moving violations.

From Sunday, June 15, to Thursday:

University of North Texas police responded to one medical call, one disturbance call, one vehicle crash, made 11 arrests and assisted two agencies.
