Blotter: Man reports attempted robbery; probe underway

Denton police Officer Orlando Hinojosa said an investigation is underway after a man reported that he was a victim of an attempted aggravated robbery late Tuesday.

Police said a 45-year-old man was on his way home from dropping off his son when he noticed a maroon pickup with the hood open parked on the side of the road near an apartment complex in the 3400 block of Joyce Lane.

Hinojosa said the man reported that when he stopped to see if the person needed help, a black man in his 30s reportedly came up to his driver-side window and pointed a black pistol at him, demanding money.

When the man told the suspect he didn’t have any money, the suspect attempted to open the door to the man’s gold vehicle, Hinojosa said.

“When he couldn’t get in, he [the suspect] got back into his truck and drove off,” Hinojosa said.

Nothing was taken and there were no reported injuries.
