Blotter: Three warrants found for man accused of shoplifting

A 55-year-old man was jailed Thursday after he was accused of shoplifting, police said.

Police said they responded to a store in the 2700 block of West University Drive on Thursday night after staff members reported that a man was taking merchandise without paying.

The suspect, police said, admitted to taking items without paying for them.

In addition, officers discovered the man had three active warrants.

The arresting officer searched the suspect and found a pill bottle in his pocket that contained three different pills, only one of which matched the prescription listed on the bottle, according to a police report.

The suspect was placed in custody and charged with theft with a previous conviction, possession of a dangerous drug, as well as the the warrants from Denton, Carrollton and Grayson County, the report stated.

300 block of Cardinal Drive — A man allegedly exposed himself to three girls — two 13-year-olds and a 10-year-old — as they were walking down a street Thursday afternoon. Denton police said a nearby resident reported the incident.

The suspect ran from the scene, according to a police report.


From 7 a.m. Thursday to 7 a.m. Friday:

* Forty-four people were booked into Denton County Jail.

* Denton police responded to 302 service and officer-initiated calls.

* Denton firefighters responded to 12 medical calls, one gas leak and one motor vehicle accident.
