Blotter: Police: Man hospitalized for possible drug overdose

Denton police and paramedics responded to a call reporting an unconscious person at a motel in the 1100 block of West University Drive at about 12:10 a.m. Friday.

Paramedics took the person to the hospital for a possible heroin overdose, according to the police report. Police searched the room and the other person in the room and found drug paraphernalia, according to the report.

One man remained in the Denton City Jail on Saturday, pending $3,500 bond, on two charges, possession of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana.

1100 block of East McKinney Street — A 55-year-old Denton man called police at about 8:25 p.m. to report a theft that had just occurred at his home.

According to the police report, the man stated a woman walked into his house and after she left, he noticed his wallet was missing. There was less than $50 in his wallet, according to the report. The man said he saw the woman leave the area in a maroon van just before the officer arrived. An investigation is pending.

300 block of West Eagle Drive — Denton police responded to a call at about 9 p.m. Friday that a middle-aged man with curly hair was walking around the businesses in the area carrying a handgun.

When officers arrived, they saw a man matching the caller’s description run to the back of a house in the 1000 block of Myrtle Street. Officers chased the man down and detained him, according to the police report. A witness helped locate the handgun.

Police arrested the man and booked him on a charge of unlawful carrying of a weapon.
