Child Protective Services was contacted Friday morning after a mother left her 3-year-old in her vehicle for more than 10 minutes in the 100 block of Elm Street, according to a police report.
When firefighters got the car door open, police searched the vehicle due to the smell of marijuana, the report said. Two “marijuana roaches” were found inside the vehicle, according to the report.
The child was “OK,” according to the report, and no arrests were made.
600 block of East Hickory Street— A suspect was arrested after spitting on a nurse and slapping a police officer about 1 a.m. Friday outside the Denton Police Department, according to a police report.
The suspect, who was under arrest for driving while intoxicated, was transported to a hospital to be treated for chest pain, the report said. When the suspect was medically cleared, police attempted to take the suspect to the Denton City Jail.
Then the suspect assaulted the police officer, spit on the nurse and tried to pull handcuffs away from the officer, the report said.
The suspect was charged with resisting arrest and assault by contact. The report did not include the name, age or gender of the suspect.
From 7 a.m. Friday to 7 a.m. Saturday, Denton police posted 19 reports online.
From June 25 through Saturday, University of North Texas police made six arrests, issued four citations and gathered information for one report.
From June 25 through Saturday, Texas Woman's University officers did not post any reports online.
