A car crash involving an intoxicated man shortly after midnight Friday ended in two people being arrested, according to a police report.
A 27-year-old woman arrived at the scene of the crash after a stranger dropped her off, police spokesman Brian Cose said. She claimed her car was was hit by a 29-year-old drunken man.
Two officers were interrogating the man at Carroll Boulevard and Sherman Drive when she started yelling about her vehicle. Cose said the officers first warned her to stay back, but they were forced to physically remove the woman after she intruded again and started berating them.
Cose said it wasn't clear whether the vehicle the man struck belonged to the woman.
The man was arrested for driving while intoxicated, and the woman was arrested for interfering with public duties.
2000 block of West University Drive — Two shoplifters were caught at Wal-Mart and Kohl's on University Drive within two hours Friday, according to police reports.
The first instance, which occurred about 3:30 p.m. at Walmart, involved a man who was detained in the store's asset protection office. The man was issued a criminal trespass notice and a citation for theft under $100.
The second, which occurred about 5:30 p.m. at Kohl's, involved a second man who ripped price tags off of shoes and walked around the store wearing them. This man was detained after passing all points of sale without an attempt to pay for the merchandise, the report said. He also was issued a criminal trespass notice and a citation for theft under $100.
Police spokesman Brian Cose said the two instances were unrelated.
2200 block of Brinker Road — A family member with access to an 82-year-old man’s bank account stole money and did not pay for his living costs at Senior Care at Denton as previously arranged, a police report said.
The caller, an employee of the facility who reported the incident Friday, also told police no payment toward the man’s rent has been made since April.
700 block of Hercules Lane — A 35-year-old woman told police her ex-boyfriend intruded at a family barbecue at 8 p.m. Friday and assaulted her. A report was taken.
200 block of West University Drive — A 36-year-old woman reported Friday somebody texted her July 19 asking for sexual favors in exchange for money, according to a police report.
The report contained no description of the solicitor.
From 7 a.m. Friday to 7 a.m. Saturday, Denton police posted 17 reports online.
From July 23 through Friday, University of North Texas police made seven arrests, issued two citations and gathered information for 18 reports.
